The Yaye Washing Station was constructed in 2021 with quality and attention to detail in mind. All of the equipment is kept immaculately clean, and all of the coffees that they process are monitored extremely carefully, as the operator of the station, Testi Coffee, estimates that as much as 40% of coffee defects are the result of contamination during processing.

This particular lot comes from about 50 smallholder farms in and around Yaye and Chericho. It was harvested over a four day period, always between 3:00PM and 7:00PM to prevent uncontrolled fermentation. The cherries are then cleaned, sorted, and carefully dried over a 28-day period and then rested for six weeks before being sent to the mill. Every step along the way is a deliberate choice to produce a high-quality cup with notes of black tea, muscadine, chamomile, and dark chocolate.
